Couldn't agree more. It's crucial to cut through the hype and really understand the fundamentals, especially about data. What are your thoughts on the ethical sourcing of training data for LLMs?

Data is crucial. Even companies we work with, which possess large amounts of data, cannot use it because they are unauthorized by users, and when they can use it, they are prevented from doing so due to the data's inconsistency (which requires standardization). Regarding third-party data, since there is no regulation, we are in a no-man's land, where anyone can appropriate, manipulate, and transform it as they wish. This poses a significant ethical dilemma, which clashes with copyright and the unauthorized use of intellectual property. This could have a significant distorting effect on the cultural economy. I can't measure its actual impact, but I know it's a problem, difficult to solve. Furthermore, the storage of data on American and Chinese servers poses a further problem, given that privacy regulations are completely different from European law. It's truly a huge mess. But like any mess, sooner or later this will change.
